Texas Tech's 2016 football season will begin in exactly 25 days with a Sept. 3 kickoff against Stephen F. Austin.
Today, we continue our Countdown to Kickoff series with a notable way the number 25 relates to Red Raider football.
25: Tracy Saul picked off 25 passes during his Texas Tech career.
Tracy Saul, who played at Texas Tech from 1989-92, left the South Plains as the program's all-time leader in career interceptions with 25. That mark that is still tied for fourth in NCAA FBS history.
The Idalou, Texas product also held the distinction of earning All-Southwest Conference honors four times, becoming one of just four players in the 81-year history of the league to do so.
Saul was inducted into the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame in 2015.
