Texas Tech's 2016 football season will begin in exactly 26 days with a Sept. 3 kickoff against Stephen F. Austin.

Today, we continue our Countdown to Kickoff series with a notable way the number 26 relates to Red Raider football.

26: There have been 26 players in Texas Tech history to catch 125 or more passes.

Before Mike Leach's arrival at Texas Tech, the program had produced just two players with 125 or more career catches: Lloyd Hill (189) and Donnie Hart (125). Since then? Well, Hill and Hart have a lot more company.

There have now been 26 Red Raiders to reach the 125 reception milestone.

To put that number in perspective, Texas Tech has as many all-time players with 125 catches as Oklahoma (11), Texas (9) and Texas A&M (6) combined.

Ironically, a running back leads the way for the Red Raiders. Taurean Henderson's 303 career receptions are far-and-away the most all-time in program history, with Wes Welker (259) and Eric Ward (255) rounding out the top three.

Tomorrow: 25 - We look back at one of the most productive defensive backs to ever play for Texas Tech.
