Notable offers: Texas Tech, UTSA, Middle Tennessee State, Louisiana Tech

Breakdown: While recruiting is in full swing for rising-senior prospects, the top juniors for the 2018 class are already beginning to hear from their share of schools and pick up some early offers, including Jones.

The 2018 defensive back is beginning to see the recruiting process take off, and that started with an offer from Texas Tech back in June.

Jones showcased his skills in front of the Red Raider staff at the program's Euless Trinity satellite camp, and they were impressed enough to make him a top priority at safety for the upcoming recruiting cycle. He's been build a relationship with Texas Tech cornerbacks coach Karl Scott ever since then.

Jones and teammate John Davis, a 2017 prospect who recently committed to the Red Raiders, unofficially visited the South Plains in July.

EVALUATION

Jones shows off great ball skills and leaping ability on film in addition to physicality against receivers over the middle. That's something that translated in person when I saw him at Texas Tech's satellite camp at Trinity earlier this summer. He's already a legit 6-foot prospect, and seeing as he's only 16, you would think he still has some growing to do.

Jones is the perfect fit for a safety in David Gibbs' system, as the Red Raiders also already run a lot of comparable zone schemes at Trinity right now. Jones would be a great get for Texas Tech.

WHERE DOES TECH STAND?

Considering the fact that Jones has already visited Lubbock - a trip he has raved about - and has a great relationship with the Texas Tech coaching staff, I think the Red Raiders are the hands-down favorite to land him at this point. Things can certainly change over time, but Texas Tech should feel good about the state of this relationship at the moment.
