RELATED: Rivals.com National Team Rankings | Ranking the Big 12 classes
Texas Tech has 13 known verbal commitments for its 2017 recruiting class heading into the football season, with eight pledges on offense and five on defense.
Currently, the Red Raiders' class ranks No. 39 overall in the nation and No. 4 in the Big 12 Conference.
How are those rankings calculated? Each prospect is assigned a set number of points based on their Rivals Rating (RR). The amount of points per prospect ranges from 150 points for a 6.1 five-star prospect down to 15 points for a 5.2 two-star prospect.
In addition to the points assigned per Rivals Rating (RR), prospects ranked in the Rivals250 receive bonus points depending on where they are listed in the national ranking. For example, the No. 1 prospect in the country receives 100 bonus points and the No. 250 prospect in the country gets three bonus points. Texas Tech commit Jack Anderson, who ranks No. 126 in the latest Rivals250, receives 27 bonus points in the ranking formula.
