The Texas Tech coaches hosted one of the program's newest 2017 commitments, Muskogee safety Kamren Curl, over the weekend at their first-ever satellite camp in the state of Oklahoma.

"It was fun," Curl said. "I hung out with coach (David) Gibbs and coach (Karl) Scott mostly. It felt really good to show up and already feel like apart of the program. It was also a good opportunity to get a sneak peek of how the coaches coach and go through the various drills."

Curl did not come alone though. He brought a handful of teammates, a few being looked at by the Texas Tech coaches.

"I brought five teammates to the camp," Curl said. "The coaches are recruiting two of our offensive linemen - Keondre Davis and Christian Maier. Keondre hasn't made a highlight tape yet, but both guys have really good size and I know the coaches liked what they did on the field."

Since making his commitment to the Red Raiders last month, Curl has been getting to know the other 2017 commitments.

"We all have our own group chat, so I have talked with all of the other commitments," Curl said. "I have mostly been getting to know them and staying in touch. I'm not sure which game it will be, but we have all talked about visiting for one of the games in Lubbock this fall."

Rated a 5.6 three-star prospect, Curl is listed as the No. 50 safety in the nation. He finished with 89 total tackles, two tackles for loss, six pass break-ups, five forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and one defensive touchdown last season.

Curl chose the Red Raiders over 18 other offers including Kansas, Illinois, SMU, Houston and Washington State. Coaches from Missouri, Arkansas, TCU, Oklahoma State and Nebraska have also been showing interest this off-season.
