With a big weekend for Texas Tech recruiting on the horizon, I decided to do a double shot of The Recruiting Six Pack. Like yesterday's shot, this is strictly Red Raider targets who will be in town this weekend for an official visit. Let's see who will be in town.
Texas Tech Targets
Edward Smith. 5.7, three-star strongside defensive end, Pearland, TX. (Glenda Dawson HS). #35 SDE and #85 in Texas.
Texas Tech was the first school to offer Smith in March 2022. He has 25 offers but recently announced his top seven schools. Texas Tech, Houston, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Purdue, and TCU were those schools. Besides his official with the Red Raiders, he will also officially visit the Cowboys, Ducks, and Horned Frogs. The Red Raiders are in a good spot there.
Ellis Davis. 5.7, three-star offensive tackle, Prosper, TX. (Prosper HS). #57 OT.
Davis is another recruit who received his offer from the Red Raiders. Texas Tech offered him in October 2022. He is now up to 25 offers, including Arizona State, Auburn, BYU, Florida State, Houston, Memphis, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Stanford, TCU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. This will be the fifth time that Davis has visited the Red Raiders, which is a great sign for them.
Charles Anderson Jr. 5.6, three-star weakside defensive end, Pearland, TX. (Glenda Dawson HS.)
Anderson is a high school teammate of Edward Smith. Like Smith, the Red Raiders were his offer back in September 2022. He now has 18 offers, including California, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Tulsa, UNLV, and UTSA. Last week, he took his first official visit to Northwestern and said that the Wildcats are one of his top schools. After he visits Lubbock this weekend, Anderson will visit the Kansas Jayhawks next weekend and then head to Lincoln on the weekend of June 23 to visit the Cornhuskers.
Ivan Carreon. 5.6, three-star wide receiver, Odessa, TX. (Odessa HS).
Carreon committed to the Red Raiders last November, choosing them over Southeast Missouri State and Texas State. Of course, when a player commits, his stock will rise, which is the case with him. Since then, Carreon has picked up Oklahoma, Purdue, and UNLV offers. He will have an official visit next weekend with the Boilermakers. Another program to watch here is Kansas, as he visited the Jayhawks in November.
Trey Jackson. 5.6, three-star tight end, Dallas, TX. (South Oak Cliff HS).
Jackson committed to Texas Tech on April 4. He chose the Red Raiders over offers from Arkansas State, Illinois State, Jackson State, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana- Monroe, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston State, Texas State, UTSA, and Utah. Jackson was in Lubbock for the Red Raiders Junior Day in March and will return for his official visit this weekend.
Lorenzo Johnson Jr. 5.5, three-star athlete, Madisonville, TX. (Madisonville HS).
Continuing a trend, Johnson is another commit who received his first offer from Texas Tech. He was offered in December 2021 and committed to the Red Raiders on February 4, 2022. He has since picked up offers from Houston, North Texas, Sam Houston State, Texas State, Tulsa, and UNLV. Johnson was the first commit for the Red Raiders 2024 class, currently ranking #26 overall and first in the Big 12 conference.
