At the stroke of midnight, college football recruiting got a little bit more interesting.
A new NCAA rule is now in place that allows for college coaches and staff members to endorse and share (like, favorite, retweet, etc.) things posted by prospects on social media.
The rule is limited, however, meaning coaches or staff members are still not allowed to publicly communicate with at or about prospects via social media. Regardless, once the clock struck midnight, coaches around the country got to work.
That includes a number of coaches from the Texas Tech staff, like offensive line coach Lee Hays who retweeted old commitment tweets such as this one from Frisco offensive lineman Jack Anderson:
Tweets from visitors, such as the posts below from Cedar Hill linebacker Dimitri Moore, were shared by members of the Red Raider football program.
Texas Tech also distributed "official offer letter" graphics to its commitments, which were posted by the prospects on Monday morning and subsequently retweeted by several Red Raider coaches and staffers.
It's yet to be seen if this will be a game changer in recruiting, but it certainly be an interesting trend to follow in the coming weeks and months as staffs around the country settle into the new normal on social media.
