Notebook: New offers, visits, and more

Texas Tech extended a few offers this week, both for football and basketball, while also getting set to host football visitors this week as well. That and more in this week's recruiting notebook.

"I talked to coach (Kevin) Patrick about the offer. It was just a blessing. It made me happy to pick up an offer from them."

The Cedar Hill defensive line prospect is the second 2018 defensive lineman to receive an offer from Texas Tech

Fort Worth Paschal 2018 receiver Jaylon Robinson also picked up an offer from the Red Raider this past week.

“I’m very blessed," he said. "I had been waiting to pick up an offer, and it is a dream come true, honestly. They offered me early which shows that they really believe in me and feel like I could be the best.”

The 5-foot-9 speedster picked up the offer just a few short weeks after his camp performance in Dallas. He is Tech's 10th wide receiver offer for 2018.

For more on Robinson, you can read our story from earlier this week.

Texas Tech set to host a number of visitors this weekend

Several prospects are scheduled to visit the South Plains this weekend.

John Davis and Cameron Jones are expected to be in town tomorrow along with new offer Jaylon Robinson. All three of the prospects hold a Texas Tech, offer with Davis being the only 2017 prospect. I'd put Davis on high alert for a possible commitment.

Collins is reportedly expected to be in Lubbock on Sunday. The former Texas commit was an NJCAA All-American last season and is being looked at as a defensive back. He is considered a class of 2016 prospect, so he would be at a school and participating in practices for this upcoming season.

Satellite camp update

Texas Tech is hosting their final satellite camps of the summer this upcoming weekend -- Broken Arrow High School in Oklahoma on Saturday and Duncanville High School on Sunday. Each satellite camp so far has given the Red Raiders a number of new prospects to watch and they have extended their fair share of offers following each of their events, too.

Just something to keep an eye on this weekend.

From the Hardwood

Chris Beard and his staff went to work again this past week extending three new offers.

Savoy is actually a 2016 prospect and could enroll immediately. He is currently at Sheridan College in Wyoming and would be considered a sophomore.

Harris is currently enrolled at Gulf Coast State College in Florida. He is a 2017 prospect and would be have three years remaining.

Around the Big 12

- TCU added speedy Waxahachie wide receiver Kenedy Snell this past week. Snell became commit No. 9 for the Frogs. He chose TCU over offers from Illinois, Michigan, SMU, and Wisconsin among others.

- West Virginia added recruits Nos. 10 and 11 this past week picking up commitments from Maryland defensive tackle Marcus Coleman and Pennsylvania athlete Ricky Johns.
