Williams set to visit Tech, OU
Arizona Western Community College running back and Texas Tech target Damien Williams is nearing the end of his recruiting process and has two of his final three remaining visits finalized.
Williams, a three-star recruit, will visit Oklahoma on Jan. 20 and will be in Lubbock for a visit with the Red Raiders Jan. 27.

The running back visited Arkansas before the winter holidays and just returned from a visit with Arizona State. Williams also is trying to decide whether or not to take his fifth and final visit. If he does, it will be between Oregon and USC.
"I just want to see how the football players I visit with feel about their culture," Williams said. "I want to get a feel for the cultures and see why they like it. I want to be comfortable with the coaches. I think it's important to see who the guys are at Oklahoma and Texas Tech.
"It doesn't really matter where I want to go. I just want to be happy with my team and try to ball out."
For Tech, Williams has primarily been recruited by running backs coach Chad Scott but also by offensive coordinator Neal Brown and new secondary coach John Lovett when they dropped by for an in-home visit.
Williams said he's talking to Cale Gundy, the running backs coach and recruiting director, at Oklahoma. Sooner head coach Bob Stoops also has dropped by Williams' home.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder with 4.5-second 40-yard speed, said he likes both Tech and Oklahoma.
"When I think of Oklahoma and Tech, I think of both of them as football schools," Williams said.
It's safe to consider Williams on the top flight of running backs from a college coach's standpoint.
What makes Williams a special player is his ability to hit the 'A' and 'B' gaps with no hesitation.
In the college game, it's more common than ever before to see running backs try to bounce the ball outside. That's not William's first instinct. He hits the inside holes between the center and guard and guard and tackle, he hits those holes and he hits whatever might be in the hole hard.
In addition to being hard-nosed, Williams has pro style cutback abilities and he is capable of finding blockers and running lanes downfield.
He's coveted, but while Tech certainly has Williams' interest the running back is keeping all his options open for now.
"I'm still talking to Arkansas, talking to Arizona, talking to Oklahoma, talking to Texas Tech and Oregon just called me," Williams said. "Also USC."
