Dallas (Texas) Skyline senior defensive tackle Joseph Wallace is one of three Raiders headed to Texas Tech next year. The standout defender was recently invited and accepted an invitation to play in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, an all-star game of sorts played annually at Cowboys Stadium that includes D1 prospects from across the country.

WHAT'S NEXT: Wallace and the entire Texas Tech 2016 class will officially visit the South Plains on Jan. 22nd. Once the new defensive assistants are hired, the coaches will most likely setup an in-home visit with Wallace and his family later this month. When he found out that former Skyline offensive coordinator Emmett Jones would be taking on a new role as an offensive assistant coach within the program, the Texas Tech commit was only that much more excited.

IN HIS WORDS: "The Blue-Grey game was crazy," Wallace said. "It was a great experience and my team, the grey team, came away with the win. I finished the game with two sacks and five total tackles. It was a lot fun competing with players from other areas of the country, guys that are also headed to play college ball next year."

“[Coach Jones] told us that he wouldn’t be a Director of Player Development – that’s what he was before, he said that he would be doing what he loved and coaching now. He said he’d be on the field with us and it’s not going to be no difference – he’s still coach Jones.”

OUR REACTION: At 6-foot-1, 315-pounds, Wallace is already a load at the defensive tackle position. We were able to watch him compete at the Rivals Camp Series this past spring and he displayed great speed for his size that day. Wallace has a very deceptive first step and often moves right past blockers on his way into the backfield - racking up 20 sacks this season. He is one of the 2016 commitments who could help the depleted Texas Tech defensive line right away that not everyone is talking about.

Rated a three-star prospect, Wallace earned the District 9-6A All-District Defensive MVP, First Team Defense honors, and APSE 6-A All-State Defensive honorable mention honors.
