offensive tackle Justin Johnson. The Red Raiders noticed the 6-foot-7, 342-pound sophomore
while recruiting Johncarlo Valentin and quickly went to work evaluating
the 2018 prospect.

WHAT'S NEXT?:
The Red Raiders were the first to offer the 2018 tackle and, with his size, they most certainly will not be the last. Additionally, Texas Tech is the only program to directly show interest in Johnson, but he has been on unofficial visits to Rutgers and Temple with Valentin and is sure to pick up more interest
along the way. Johnson is new to football and is thrilled about the possibility of going to college for free, where he hopes to study computer science or computer programming.
IN HIS WORDS:
"It was surprising," Johnson said of the offer. "I was focused because I had a game going on, it was in the middle of a playoff game. My coach said 'I have some news for you' and pulled me over to the side at halftime. I
heard about the offer and it sparked me up even more. It was enlightening because that's the whole goal, to go to college and get a free education and not have to worry about my family."
OUR REACTION:
Johnson is obviously a long way away from finalizing his recruitment, but it's
always good to get in on the ground floor with potential top-level prospects. --
