Texas Tech among the top options for DE target David Anenih

Texas Tech and defensive line coach Kevin Patrick offered Mansfield Timberview defensive end David Anenih late last month.

With several other 2017 prospects off the board to other programs, Anenih is receiving a ton of attention from Patrick and the Texas Tech staff.

"Things are going great with Texas Tech," Anenih said. "Coach Patrick and I talk all of the time, we are building a very good relationship. He tells me that I'm one of his top targets and is always wanting to know when I can come for a visit to see everything at Texas Tech.

"Coach Patrick and the entire coaching staff send me letters in the mail every week. We haven't talked about the depth chart or exactly how they would use me, but the coaches want to instead show me some of that during my official visit. I'm looking forward to finally getting out there to see everything for myself and learn more about the program."

Anenih does not have any official visits setup at the moment, but the standout prospect does know a visit to the South Plains is in the works.

"I don't have any dates setup currently, but I'm working with coaches and my parents on some potential dates," Anenih said. "I know that Texas Tech, Southern Mississippi and Kansas State are three programs that I would like to visit. Other than those three, there is also Oklahoma State, Houston and Iowa State. That is my top group of schools right now, and I believe that a decision could come after taking my official visits."

Mansfield Timberview beat Everman in week one 21-7. Anenih finished the game with six total tackles and four tackles for loss in the win.

Rated a 5.5 three-star prospect, the 6-foot-3, 223-pound prospect finished his junior season with 43 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three sacks.
