Tech adds late addition JUCO DE Quentin Yontz

David Gibbs and the Red Raider defense have been searching for a few late JUCO or grad transfer targets to add to the team for the 2017 season over the last few months, and they picked up their first over the weekend.

Fullerton C.C. defensive end Quentin Yontz, who recently visited Lubbock, decided to pull the trigger and sign with Tech to become the newest member of the defense.

Yontz was offered by defensive line coach Terrance Jamison just a few weeks ago when the Tech assistant was out scouring the JUCO ranks in California for a few more additions to his unit.

Jamison saw the prospect in person, offering the next day.

Things moved quickly from there, as Yontz set up his visit and quickly decided on the Red Raiders once it was finished.

The defender will play the true defensive end spot for Tech on most downs, but he could also spin down to a defensive tackle on passing downs as a pass rusher.

We'll have a full story up on Yontz and why he chose the Red Raiders soon.

This likely won't be the last JUCO addition for Texas Tech either, so stay tuned to RedRaiderSports.com for more coverage!
