THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS
Tell me something about yourself that might surprise people.
“Most people don’t know that I actually really like to cook in my spare time. A lot of people don’t really know that about me. I cook it, I’ll cook everything, but I do make a lot of desserts and stuff like that.”
Who is your favorite football player of all time, and who do you model your game after?
“I’d have to say Chad Ochocinco as my favorite football player. He is also the guy that I try and model my play after, too.”
Your most memorable moment from your high school football career?
“We played in a rain game one year, and I had only three catches but had more than 150 yards. The defensive backs were sliding all over the place. It was a pretty fun game.”
Did you ever have an embarrassing moment playing football?
“An embarrassing moment? Not that I recall.”
When did you first realize that you had potential to be an FBS football player?
“Probably the middle of my junior year. I was receiving a lot of interest, and a lot of coaches were calling me and telling me to keep it up, and I could receive an offer. That’s when I knew that I could go D-1.”
What are you looking forward to the most when you head to Texas Tech?
“The biggest thing is probably the family atmosphere. That’s why I picked Tech because of the fans, the coaches, and the players, it is just one big family atmosphere. Also, game days. Game days are pretty crazy. I’ve been to a few games, and it is a live atmosphere.”
A LOOK AT THE RECRUITING PROCESS:
What's the most unique thing a coach said or did during your recruitment?
“The most unique thing is probably when a coach was telling me that their town was a party town, and I could have a lot of fun on the weekends. I never thought a coach would ever say that to me.”
What was it that made you think, "Texas Tech is the place for me." ?
“They had my major and the campus was great. I loved the atmosphere, and of course the offense was just the icing on the cake. I know I will get the ball. All that kind of made me realize that I really wanted to be at Tech.”
What was your favorite moment during the recruiting process?
“My official visit to Tech was definitely the best part.”
What was the worst part about the recruiting process?
“Some coaches aren’t very truthful. I can’t elaborate on that, but just having to deal with that wasn’t very fun.”
What school would you have chosen had you not decided to be a Red Raider?
“Probably Oklahoma State.”
PERSONAL PREFERENCES
Do you have a nickname?
“People call me ‘Live Action’ so that’s kind of a nickname for me. I don’t think there’s really a story behind, it is just something that comes up.”
What person, dead or alive, would you like to have dinner with?
“Probably Kid Cudi.”
Would you rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or one horse sized duck?
“I’d go with the 100 horses because ducks are pretty scary.”
What's your favorite movie?
“I have a lot of favorites, but I’m going to go with either Good Burger or The Mighty Ducks.”
Have you decided what you want to major in at Tech?
“Hospital administration.”
What number would you like to wear at Tech, and why is that number significant to you?
“I wanted to wear 8 but Tony Brown has it. I asked the coaches and they said 3 was open. I like 3 because it was my number all throughout high school except for my junior year. I wore it when I was little, too.
"Growing up, the movie ‘Like Mike’ was out, and I liked 3 because of that movie and of course Allen Iverson was raw back then.”
ON THE FIELD
What position will you be playing at Texas Tech?
“The coaches said I could move around, but I will probably start out at the H-receiver position. I’ll play both H and X my first year.”
What is a personal strength that you will bring to the table at Tech?
“My size, speed, and route running. I’m 6-foot-2, so being at that size and being able to run with speed. My route running has come a long way from working with my trainer. I’m excited to see how my route running compares to collegiate DBs.”
What is the one thing that you need to work on in order to play at the next level?
“I need to learn to play at a pace. You can’t go full-throttle the whole time. You have to pace yourself on certain routes, and I really just need to learn patience."
Do you expect to redshirt this season?
“No sir.”
What do you want your legacy to be when you leave Texas Tech?
“I just want to be one of the greatest to ever come through. I want to be remembered as one of the greatest and then hopefully continue my career at the next level.”
