Earlier in the week, Texas Tech received a commitment from 5.7 three-star Prosper High (TX) offensive lineman Ellis Davis, and today we dive into the film that Davis has flashed throughout his high school career.
Davis chose the Red Raiders over Stanford, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and other power-five institutions.
Big Time Pull
This is just an excellently executed play from Davis. He knew his assignment and blew up the blitzing linebacker to create a hole that was one move away from being a big gain. This play shows Davis' high football IQ and athleticism to get to the other side of the play in a few steps.
Excellent Footwork
This play jumps out at you when watching Davis' tape. His ability to pick up the blitz and use his quick footwork to get out to the edge with haste is an impressive trait. Although the rusher didn't pose much challenge, Davis did well to protect his quarterback on this play.
Getting to the Second Level
Once again, another excellent athletic play from Davis. He picks up his block in the second level violently after helping his guard with the lineman. Davis got on that linebacker very quick and was able to manhandle him to open a big hole on the right side.
