Sachse DL hearing from Tech, working towards an offer

After the recent hiring of defensive line coach, Terrance Jamison, Jamison has been spending time getting to know some of Tech’s old targets at the defensive line position, while also introducing some new names to the mix as well.

One of the old targets on Tech’s board that Jamison has started to build a relationship with is Sachse (TX) defensive lineman Tyler Lacy. The three-star prospect is really enjoying what he has heard from coach Jamison so far.

“I talked with coach Jamison on Friday. We’ve been talking through Twitter but that was the first time I actually talked with him on the phone. He said he watched more of my film and liked it a lot. He definitely wants to get me up there for a visit as soon as possible. He also spoke to my parents and they spoke a little bit, too.”

“He’s a real cool guy. A real cool guy. He spoke to me real cool and we definitely hit it off and then my parents really liked talking with him, too. He was just talking to us like we were family.”

Lacy had plans to be in Lubbock this past weekend for Tech’s junior day but was unable to make it to Lubbock in the end. Future plans to attend one of the spring practices in Lubbock or even the spring game at The Star in Frisco are on his agenda.

In regards to Lacy, getting the defensive lineman to visit Lubbock will be big, but even bigger than that will be getting the 6-foot-4, 240-pound prospect an offer, something that is in fact in the works.

“We’ve also talked a bit about an offer. He said he really wants to see me in person and see what I look like. He wants to observe what they have right now, too. He wants to assess the needs of the current defensive line group, too.”

“They say that I’m high up on their board. They tell me how much they like my film and how much they want me as a player at Texas Tech.”

Lacy’s former teammates, Riko Jeffers and Nate Shelton are on track to join the Texas Tech team in June. Lacy says he hears positive things from Jeffers and Shelton and holds Tech in high regard for a variety of reasons.

“He (Riko) said he likes it, and he likes the atmosphere of the campus and he really likes the coaches. Our receiver said that as well.”

“I really enjoy starting to hear from coach Jamison, and they are really high on my interest level right now. They are in the Big 12 and would keep me close to home and in the area. They need someone like me to help their defense, too, so I they stand high on my list.”

Lacy was a second team All-District selection for Sachse this past season.
