MORE BASKETBALL Q&As: Niem Stevenson | Anthony Livingston | Gio McLean | Keenan Evans | Brandon Francis

Texas Tech basketball is still a few months away from tipping off its 2016-17 season, but the local media recently had a chance to sit down with the members of this Red Raider squad one-on-one to see how things have been progressing over the summer.

Today we share our Q&A with senior Aaron Ross, who discussed the offseason and shared his excitement about Chris Beard's motion offense.

Q: How do you feel that the first few months have gone so far under Coach Beard?

"The first couple of months have been great. He demanded excellence, so we had to come out and show him excellent stuff. He made us work hard, gave us confidence, and I just feel like everything is going good so far."

Q: For you personally, how do you feel like the offseason went?

"Offseason has been good, been bad, but overall it's been great. It's just a challenge, and he wanted me at a certain weight. I have to get to that weight and maintain that weight. I mean, these few months have been hard, but it's been good at the same time."

Q: With that being said, where do you feel like you are in-shape-wise?

"Right now I feel great. I'm moving, moving better, feeling better. Everything is looking good."

Q: What's it been like getting to know all these newcomers, especially since it's such an unusually large group?

"It's been fun meeting my new teammates. It's been exciting. We hang out, go to movies, go to eat, just get to know each other. But, getting to know these guys has been really fun."

Q: Are there are any of those guys in particular that you've really hit it off with?

"I'd say honestly all of them about the same. Man, they're all really cool. But, the standout would probably be Niem (Stevenson). Niem, he's the loudest one out of the new players (laughing). But, honestly I do have to say I've liked getting to know the whole new team."

Q: For a guy like you that loves to shoot, how much fun has it been getting to learn this new motion offense?

"Man, it's gonna be fun. That's another reason why I had to lose some weight and get in shape, cause the offense is constantly moving, constantly screening, so it's going to be a lot of fun."

Q: Being a few months still out from the season starting, where do you feel like you guys are as a team?

"Right now I Feel like it's going good. We're still gelling, still getting to know each other on the court, but by the time real practices start, by the time real practices start, we're going to be okay."
