picked up an offer from Texas Tech on Tuesday. The three-star prospect heard the
news straight from Red Raider head coach Kliff Kingsbury, as Thomas'
coaches told him to call earlier in the day. Thomas has deep family ties to the university as both his
father (Bart) and uncle (Zach) played for the Red Raiders in the 1990s. Thomas
remains committed to Wazzu but is going to "weigh his options" as more offers continue to roll in.

WHAT'S NEXT?:
The junior safety is playing his first year at Lubbock Cooper after transferring in from Canyon Randall. Despite missing two games due to concussion, Thomas leads the Pirates with 75 tackles in six games and has recorded two interceptions. Along with Texas Tech and Washington State, Thomas continues to hear from East Carolina, Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State. The five-foot-11, 195-pound
prospect will be in attendance when Texas Tech takes on Oklahoma State this
weekend.
IN HIS WORDS:
"My coaches called me in, and I called coach Kingsbury and he gave me the offer over the phone," he said. "I was ecstatic. I have loved Tech since I was little, so I was pretty excited. I was raised a Tech fan. Coach (David) Gibbs and
coach (Eric) Morris also DMed me on Twitter to tell me congratulations."
OUR REACTION:
Seeing as he's a local product, the Red Raider coaching staff has had ample opportunities to get a first-hand look at the junior safety. They've obviously seen enough to extend an offer, which happened on Tuesday. His uncle is a Texas Tech defensive legend, and David Gibbs and his staff believe the DB can help them turn the current defense around.
