Notebook: OL bounces back

has liked what he's seen from the true freshman, and Evans' performance in the
coming days could determine his fate for the season.
Click Here to view this Link."Kindred's doing good," Tuberville said. "He's a tall, lean guy that can make
plays. He's still on the bubble in terms of whether we play him or not. A lot of
that has to do with injuries, and we're going to practice him like he's going to
play, and then we'll just see as we get into the season whether we actually do
it or not."
Evans is glad that he's receiving recognition for his efforts.
"It feels pretty good, because I know a lot of people don't get recognition like
that," he said. "I'm happy for it, and I'm just going to keep working hard and
hopefully they keep doing it."
O-LINE REBOUNDS
Tuberville was critical of the Red Raiders' offensive line on Monday, but noted
on Tuesday that the unit had bounced back.
"I thought they responded well today," he said. "Still made some mistakes, but
that's going to happen as much as we put pressure on them in practice with our
first team defense and as much as we blitzed. I was encouraged.
"Yeah, you know they got called out, and when you get called out usually you
find out what you're made of, whether you're going to step up and make plays.
It's hard to play offensive line, especially in two-a-days. You're seeing
different blitzes and stunts every day."
MCROY WILL BE VERSATILE
Tech will use speedster Ben McRoy in a variety of ways this fall. The
sophomore from Florida logged 22 carries in 2010, and Tuberville hopes to see
that number increase this season.
"He's going to be in the slot, playing receiver, running back," Tuberville said.
"He's got a lot of speed and quickness. We've got to make sure we do get him the
ball some in games. Last year we probably, in the season, didn't get it to him
as much as we should have, but he turned the ball over, too. Coach (Neal)
Brown's not going to play you if you turn the ball over."
MARQUEZ MOVING UP
True freshman receiver Bradley Marquez is quickly rising up the depth
chart. The former Odessa (Texas) running back has easily transitioned to wide
receiver, and is now getting some reps with the ones.
"Bradley Marquez is making a name for himself out here, running with the first
team a little bit," Tuberville said. "I'm really excited about him."
Quarterback Seth Doege echoed Tuberville's praise and said that he
enjoys being able to let loose when throwing to Marquez.
"He's super fast. He's probably one of the top three fastest guys we've got on
the team," Doege said. "He's very explosive. He's fun to throw a deep ball to,
cause you can throw it really high and he can just run under it. He's doing a
good job. He's still learning, but we like his progress and we think he's going
to help us.
