Massie hoping for Tech offer

With the departure of senior outside linebacker Pete Robertson drawing closer,

Texas Tech defensive coordinator David Gibbs will need to find a fitting
replacement. One prospect who could possibly fill that role is Lufkin (Texas)
defensive end Bronson Massie. The 6-foot-4, 210 defender speaks with
linebacker coach Zac Spavital on a consistent basis. Texas Tech hasn't offered
Massie yet, but he'd be willing to plug them at the top of his list if the
opportunity was given to him. He currently holds offers from Cal, Colorado
State, Louisiana Tech, SFA, Texas State and Washington.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
Massie's recruitment has taken a while to break open, but he could possibly see
a few offers come before signing day. He believes Cincinnati and Oklahoma State
are close to pulling the trigger at the moment. Texas Tech wants to see his
senior film before offering. Massie feels that his growth this year is
sufficient enough to receive an offer from the Red Raiders. These next few weeks
will be crucial for Massie as he tries to snag some offers late in his
recruitment process. In the meantime, he's planning to take officials to Cal and
Washington before the season comes to a close.
IN HIS WORDS:
"They wanted to see grow as a senior. Based off my junior film they wanted to
see my senior film too, and they can make an assessment and offer me or not. I
should, though. (My) senior film is going pretty good now" said Massie. "They
would probably be in my top choices. They stick out because of the atmosphere.
Their games are crazy! I like the the head coach, (Kliff) Kingsbury. The defense
is picking it up. The program is on the come up."
OUR REACTION:
Massie is a prospect that the Red Raiders have known about for quite some time
now, and Trey Haverty has been building a relationship with the defensive end
for many months. Texas Tech is bursting at the seams right now with the
defensive line class for 2016, but Massie is likely one of the next in line to
receive an offer should they decide to add another end. -- Will McKay
