Special to RedRaiderSports

A new feature, 'In his words' is an update completely written by the recruit for the members at RedRaiderSports.

The first recruit to tell their story is Texas Tech quarterback commitment Alan Bowman, who announced his commitment to the Red Raiders this past June.

BEING COMMITTED...

Before I committed to Texas Tech, there had not been a true Division One scholarship football player come out of Grapevine High School in probably 10 or 15 years. So it was kind of a different deal. We have a few guys in the 2019 class that will go and play football at the next level, but being the quarterback, it’s a different story.

I wouldn’t have done it without every single one of my teammates and my coaches from my Freshman to Senior year. It is pretty cool being a committed player, and I think there is a different kind of respect that everyone has for me because they know how hard that I have worked to get where I am and everyone is proud that it has all paid off.

Although I do believe that I was under-recruited, I think that I am one of the best quarterbacks in the nation and couldn’t be happier to be apart of the Red Raider Family.

FIRST GAME EXPERIENCE AT TEXAS TECH...

Having never been to a game at Texas Tech, I didn’t know what to expect. I have seen games on TV, but I never got to experience the true Jones Stadium atmosphere.

I was very impressed to say the least. The students have insane school pride. They were standing in the pouring rain during the delay yelling and cheering as if it was still sunny outside. They are there early and never disappointed.

The game itself was a smash mouth classic and impressed me with how much the players cared about winning. The fans were crazy, the stadium was rocking, and Tech was winning. Sounds like a good combo to me! I can’t wait to experience it first hand as a member of the team next year.

MEMORIES FROM MY OFFICIAL VISIT...

Taking my official visit was a weekend that I will always remember. Being able to have all of the people I love down there to be at the game and truly be apart of something special.

I feel very comfortable here and I am starting to make new relationships with some of the guys. One cool thing that surprised me was when I walked into my hotel room and there was a cake in the shape of a Tech football jersey with my number on it.

I had a great time with the coaches and I feel at home.
