Impressive Junior Day turnout

Texas Tech hosted over a dozen prospects over the weekend for its first junior day event of the year over the weekend. Red Raider commit Da'Leon Ward was in town, as were other 2016 standouts Donell Dunn, A.J. Green, T.J. Vasher and others. The program also hosted a number of elite 2017 prospects such as four-stars Jack Anderson, Anthony Hines and Damion Miller.
Kliff Kingsbury seemed pleased with the weekend.

"It was the biggest one we've had since I've been here," he said. "With our location, unofficial visits aren't the easiest things. Our guys did a great job of setting those up. A lot of enthusiasm, a lot of big-time prospects, so it went well."
The Red Raiders were originally scheduled to hold a junior day on Feb. 28 but inclement weather forced the event to be pushed back a week. Kingsbury didn't think the delay impacted the turnout for junior day.
"We try to limit it," he said. "We don't want a cattle call, if you will. We want to show the players here a lot of attention and I think we got that accomplished."
While Texas Tech will certainly host more unofficial visitors in the coming weeks, the program may not have another junior day-type event this spring.
"We'll try," Kingsbury said. "We'll reach out to players who can make it and who can't. That's our biggest deal -- getting kids out here at the same time. If not we'll have a bunch of individual visits."
The Red Raiders currently have two verbal commitments for the 2016 class: Ward and Collin Wilder.
