Fields commits to Texas Tech

Taylor (Texas) cornerback DaMarcus Fields committed to Texas Tech on Friday, less than two weeks after receiving an offer from the Red Raiders.
"I decided to commit because of the coaches," Fields said. "We've been looking at the school for two or three weeks, me and my mom have been breaking it down, this and that. I heard it's pretty quiet out there and everything. I need to get away from home, from bad decisions and stuff and just focus on football and grades. I have a real good relationship with the coaches. They've been good to me. They keep up with me every day, send me stuff. I really like it."

Fields announced his commitment after Texas Tech's satellite camp in New Braunfels.
"I really liked it," he said. "Everything was well organized. The drills and stuff, I'm going to take that in with me and put it in my workouts. They really showed me a lot. I can't wait to be coached by them."
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect has yet to visit Lubbock but hopes to check out the South Plains sometime this summer.
