Castaneda is firm in his commitment

Round Rock (Texas) 2017 offensive guard Tyler Castaneda committed to Texas Tech back in October of last year, and the junior has been solid with the Red Raiders ever since then. Castaneda was joined in the 2017 class by Cibolo Steele quarterback Xavier Martin over the summer, and in October, the duo welcomed Frisco (Texas) Rivals100 prospect Jack Anderson to the class as the next piece.

As for himself, Castaneda has enjoyed watching the Tech offense operate and put up big numbers this fall, A lot of that also probably has to do with the fact that his older brother, redshirt freshman and fellow O-lineman Robert Castaneda, has received a lot of playing time throughout the season in spot duty.
Castaneda is currently rated as the number nine overall guard and the number 44 player in the state of Texas for 2017.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
The six-foot-three, 288-pound lineman has been a key cog in Round Rock's run towards the playoffs, as they finished the regular season with an 8-2 record, averaging 422 yards of offense and 37 points per game. Now, Castaneda is excited to lead his team on what will hopefully be another deep playoff run, and they'll start things off against Austin Westlake this Friday.
On the recruiting trail, Castaneda is receiving a little bit of interest from Texas and what seems to be a lot of interest from Houston. He has no visits set up at the moment, however.
IN HIS WORDS:
"Things are going great. I'm talking to Coach Hays pretty much every day. I've watched every single game on TV. My brother gets playing time, so I love to watch him play and I love to see him go out there. Honestly it is awesome, I know it is a dream come true for him," he said. "I love seeing their offensive style and I love the playmakers they have. They have a really fast offense. I love that."
OUR REACTION:
Castaneda committed very, very early in the process, so it's great to hear that he's still very happy with how things are going with the Red Raiders. He's seen the product, and he gets a first hand account from his older brother, so it sounds like Tech is still in great shape with the 2017 guard. - Will McKay
