Anderson plans to enroll early at TTU

The coaches are off to an impressive start with the 2017 recruiting class and Frisco (Texas) offensive lineman Jack Anderson is the center piece for what is currently one of the top recruiting classes nationally. The standout prospect recently announced that he will graduate high school next December and enroll at Texas Tech for the spring semester in January of 2017.

WHAT'S NEXT?:
In order to accomplish his goal of graduating early, Anderson will begin taking extra courses, online courses and summer courses. His off-season football plans include working out, practicing his pass blocking technique, visiting Lubbock a few times and attending as many camps as possible to compete against some of the best. Most of all, Anderson is focused on his academics and the ACT test going into the spring semester.
IN HIS WORDS:
"The coaches brought up graduating early and I went to talk with my counselor to see if it could be done," Anderson said. "He told me that I could do it if I worked hard and follow the path he's putting me on. It means a lot to have the opportunity to possibly get up there with my teammates earlier and work for a starting spot."
Anderson also shared his thoughts on being named the No. 47 in the latest Rivals100 national rankings this week.
"I'm motivated by that," Anderson said. "I know there aren't 46 players better than me. Rivals has me the lowest of any recruiting site, but it's not really in my control. My goal is to work hard this off-season and continue climbing."
The standout prospect has taken a leadership role on the recruiting trail and was excited to see Texas Tech offer one of his teammates recently.
"Dawson (Deaton) is my guy," Anderson said. "Him and Will (Farrar) are guys that I speak with often. I'm also close with Jalen (Reagor) and started talking with him when he first received the offer from Tech. I quickly figured out he was an animal on the field and I'm excited he decided to join the class last week."
OUR REACTION:
At 6-foot-4, 275-pounds, Anderson is already rated as one of the top lineman prospects in the nation. He is hungry to prove more and it will be fun watching him on the camp circuit this spring. In watching him in action earlier this season, the Frisco team runs the ball 90-percent of the time and Anderson is already a punishing run blocker from the guard position. It will be interesting to see how much he continues to grow into his frame this off-season and what positions he plays at these camps loaded with talent. -- Matt Clare
