Analysis: Why the Hamilton transfer is a big deal for Texas Tech hoops
TEXAS TECH BASKETBALL Q&As: Niem Stevenson | Anthony Livingston | Gio McLean
Tommy Hamilton's transfer to Texas Tech is a big deal. Not only is it another example of Chris Beard's never-ending approach to recruiting, but it also sets up the Red Raiders in a huge way for the 2017-18 season.
In early May, less than 45 days into his tenure at Texas Tech, Chris Beard joined Chris Level and me on Tech Talk. This was days after the Red Raiders had announced the additions of Niem Stevenson and Shadell Millinghaus and toward the end of our interview, I asked a question about his plans for the rest of the summer now that his program had wrapped up recruiting for the upcoming season.
“We’re continuing to recruit,” he said. “It’s never over. We still hope to improve the roster as much as we can here throughout the summer.”
The Red Raiders have since added Arkansas State transfer Anthony Livingston, Quinnipiac transfer Gio McLean, Florida transfer Brandone Francis and, now, DePaul transfer Tommy Hamilton IV.
Beard and his staff aren't messing around.
