After a stout official visit weekend which has already produced two commits, Texas Tech made it three Tuesday evening with the commitment of Ada (OK) cornerback Deante Lindsay.

"I felt at home the first time I stepped foot on campus. The coaches are really welcoming, and I have great relationships with them," says Lindsay, about his decision. "I also love that everyone in Lubbock is Texas Tech, the fan base there is amazing. It’s close enough for my dad to come to games but far enough to let me grow up a little bit."

After taking official visits to Boston College and Tech, Lindsay is the sixth defensive back to give his pledge to the Red Raiders. Lindsay chose Texas Tech over the likes of BC, UNLV and now-Big 12 foe Utah.

Lindsay is one of the more recent recruits to burst onto the scene in the Red Raiders’ recruiting realm. The Ada, Oklahoma product was first offered by the Tech staff back in February, continuing the common theme of coaches being early on prospects.

Lindsay visited Lubbock twice in his recruitment, taking in the sights of one of the Red Raiders’ spring intrasquad scrimmages before taking his OV June 7-9.

A three-sport athlete, Lindsay also plays basketball and was a state qualifier in the 110 and 300 meter hurdles, reaching the podium in both events at the state meet.

A versatile talent on the football field, Lindsay has starred on both sides of the ball for the Cougars, as he scored 13 touchdowns and snagged five interceptions his junior season, per MaxPreps.

His production was also felt on special teams, where he played a role in Ada’s return game.

A rangy, 6-foot-2 athlete, Lindsay is expected to play cornerback for the Red Raiders in Marcel Yates’ defensive backs room.

Lindsay is the second cornerback to commit this week, joining Lago Vista’s Swayde Griffin. Lindsay brings Texas Tech’s total commit tally for the class of 2025 to 16.
