Today's Throwback Thursday features Nebraska coming into town to face Sonny Cumbie and the high flying Red Raider offense, back in October of 2004.

Sonny Cumbie threw for 436 yards and 5 TD's and Texas Tech handed Nebraska the worst loss in its 114 year history. The Red Raider defense forced 8 total turnovers in the contest that become one of the most lopsided wins in Big 12 play ever with a 70-10 final score.

Texas Tech first found the endzone first when Cumbie connected on a 22 yard touchdown to Jarrett Hicks. Hicks was later on the end of an 80 yard touchdown late in the first half which extended Tech's lead to 21-3 heading into the locker room.

Nebraska scored first in the 3rd quarter to cut the lead to 11 points, but Texas Tech would then go onto score 49 unanswered points, including 28 in the 4th quarter.

Jarrett Hicks finished with 107 yards and 3 TDs, tailback Taurean Henderson finished with 2 rushing touchdowns, and Johnnie Mack added another rushing touchdown of his own. Texas Tech was able to pick off Nebraska QB Beau Davis 4 times as well. The turnovers forced by the defense helped set up Tech in Nebraska territory 5 times in the second half, holding the once prominent Nebraska running game to 93 yards in the process.

The win moved Texas Tech to 2-1 in conference and helped the Red Raiders move into a tie for first place in the Big 12 South. The Red Raiders would eventually finish the year 8-4 and would knock off the 3rd ranked Cal Golden Bears in the Holliday Bowl.
