Roach could visit Tech soon

Texas Tech already has one of the largest defensive line classes in the entire country, and the Red Raiders could even add another piece or two to the unit. One of the DL prospects near the top of the list is Baton Rouge (Louisiana) Madison Prep Academy defensive end Malcolm Roach.

Roach, who currently holds 21 offers, has been hearing more from Tech cornerbacks coach Kevin Curtis as of late. The D-lineman said Curtis talks to him on Twitter every day and has been pushing for him to make a visit to Lubbock.
The Red Raider assistant has made sure to let Roach know they're in need of linemen that can come in and get sacks, which the Baton Rouge native believes he can certainly do. Roach believes he isn't too shabby at stopping the run, either.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
Roach currently has no official visits set up. However, the Louisiana prospect said that he does definitely want to take a visit to Texas Tech, which will more than likely come after the season is complete. He recently made an unofficial visit out to Tuscaloosa to check out Alabama, which the DE enjoyed quite a bit.
IN HIS WORDS:
"(Coach Curtis) has just been talking to me about the defense and what position I play on defense," he said. "And just trying to get me to come up for a visit. I think we should be planning one out."
"It is high (on my list) because they have a need for my position," he said. "I believe that the coaches really want me a lot."
"I just want to get a good feel, make myself feel at home," he said of a possible visit to Texas Tech. "Just want to see if I could see myself spending the next three to four years there of my life."
"It shows that you're a need, that they want you a lot," he said about hearing from Curtis every day. "When I talk to my parents about the recruiting process all they say is go where you are needed and not where you want to go."
OUR REACTION:
Texas Tech already has eight defensive linemen committed for the 2016 class, but they seem to be trying to make room for at least one more. Roach is certainly one of the prospects that the Red Raiders are pursuing heavily, so we'll see if official visit plans are solidified in the near future. - Will McKay
