Deaton enjoyed Lubbock

Texas Tech hosted several recruits last weekend, including Frisco (Texas) 2017
offensive center Dawson Deaton. During his visit, Deaton was able to
take in the entire campus on a tour and have a sit-down with offensive line
coach Lee Hays. Overall, the 6-foot-6, 270 pound lineman enjoyed his
visit to Lubbock and plans to return in the future.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
Things will slowly began to unfold over the next few months with Deaton and
Texas Tech. The interest is certainly there, but an offer won't be extended
until the coaching staff decides on the number of offensive line recruits
they'll need for 2017. Deaton said his ideal plan would be to have his offers in
place by next summer for a commitment. In the meantime, Deaton is focused on
leading his playoff-bound team on a deep run this month.
IN HIS WORDS:
"It was awesome. The atmosphere there is great. It was probably the loudest game
I've been to. I had a good time talking to the coaches and getting to learn more
about the school. Hearing the crowd chant Raider Power, it was just really loud
and it was just an awesome thing to hear. (It was) different than any other
chant I've heard."
OUR REACTION:
With two offensive line commits already for 2017, Lee Hays and the Red Raiders
will likely only have two more spots or so on offense on the trenches for the
class. Deaton is already getting quite a bit of attention, however, and a good
finish to his junior year could possibly help him pick up an offer. -- Will
