2019 receiver talks new Tech offer

This year in recruiting has shown that it is never too early to extend an offer to a prospect with the potential to be a star which is what Kliff Kingsbury and staff have done as they have already extended offers to multiple 2019 prospects. The most recent rising star to have picked up an offer is 2019 Allen (TX) wide receiver Theo Wease.

WHAT'S NEXT?:

Despite just completing his freshman season, Wease is no stranger to recruiting and already holds an offer from SMU, too. He is also starting to see some interest from Washington, Oregon, and Florida State among others.

Wease has many years ahead of him to grow and get better, and he hopes to get started early on all the hard work this summer. Wease participates in 7-on-7 and has a few camps on his schedule this summer, too including a camp with Texas Tech on July 24. Since it is still early for the 2019 prospect, Wease isn’t particularly interested in trying to earn lots of offers right now. He just wants to go out, earn a starting spot and help make his team better.

IN HIS WORDS:

On the Tech offer:

“My coach told me about the offer. He told me that when Coach Jones came out to watch me practice that he really liked me and they wanted to extend an offer. He came out a few times over the spring. I knew when I first met him that he was all about ball control and technique, so when he was around I just made sure I got out of my breaks quick and got my hands up.”

On Tech interest:

“It is a dream come true early, it is just exciting. I actually went to one of their games when they played Baylor and that’s when I saw that they got their wide receivers involved a lot. I think it would be a great fit for me.”

OUR REACTION:

Texas Tech has shown that they are not afraid to offer early if a prospect shows that he is capable of turning into a star. Wease definitely shows he is capable as he dominated as a freshman last year. The 2019 prospect also already stands at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds and could grow into a monster over the next few seasons. He is one to watch as he moves through the levels at Allen and there is no negative for Tech getting in on him early.
