With National Signing Day next week, the Texas Tech coaching staff is still hard at work trying to fill out the remaining spots in the 2019 class. On Wednesday evening they did get some good news however, as Thunder Ridge (Colorado) linebacker Ethan Frasier verbally committed to Texas Tech as a preferred walk on.

"So I was actually pretty close with the old coaching staff, coach Kingsbury recruited me initially and I visited back in October. But since the new staff has taken over I've been in contact with coach Luke Wells. He offered me the preferred walk on, and he said he watched my tape and liked me as an inside linebacker, that I play downhill, I'm physical and I like to play with a chip on my shoulder."

For Ethan, the decision was an easy one as being a Red Raider is something he has always wanted to do. Ethan is a Texas Tech legacy as his father also attended TTU.

"When I told the coaches I was committing they were really excited and so was I. I can't wait to be a Red Raider. Tech's always been my dream school, they were also my best opportunity to play at a Power 5 school, and I just couldn't resist that opportunity. It also makes financial sense because even though its a preferred walk on I've received in-state tuition and an academic scholarship on top of that for my grades. So financially it makes sense as well."

The 6-foot-1, 225 pound inside linebacker took an unofficial visit to Texas Tech back in October for the Kansas game, and recapped that visit with RedRaiderSports.com back then. Now that he's committed, he plans on coming back to campus in the coming months.

"Yes sir I've been talking to the coaches and they said that I can come down for the spring game (March 30) or even potentially earlier than that."

Playing in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, you would think that moving to Texas would be a big adjustment for any player. But for Ethan, Lubbock, TX is home and he's just ready to get to work.

"I'm originally from Texas but my family moved up to Colorado about 7 years ago, so all of my family and relatives live in Texas and so I'm excited to get back down there."

Frasier is planning to sign with Texas Tech next Wednesday on National Signing Day. He chose the Red Raiders over full offers from Davidson, Drake and Northern Colorado and a PWO offer from Colorado State.
