They say that three times is a charm. If that is true, then Texas Tech is in a good position when it comes to Richmond (TX) Randle defensive tackle Chace Sims. He was in Lubbock for a third time when he took his official visit with the Red Raiders over the weekend.

RedRaiderSports spoke with him to recap his weekend in Lubbock and his recruitment.

What you need to know...

... Sims is rated as a 5.6, three-star prospect.

... TTU was the first to offer him on February 22, 2023.

... Sims has offers from Houston, SMU, Arizona, TCU, Kansas, Tulsa, California, Memphis, Lamar, Texas A&M, Kansas State, LSU, Washington, Baylor, Texas, UTEP, and Pittsburgh.

... In 2023, he finished with 86 total tackles, 18 tackles-for-loss, and 11 sacks for the Lions, per his MaxPreps page.

... Sims also competes in track and field, where he throws the discus and Shot Put, per his athletic.net page.

Texas Tech official visit recap: "As soon as I stepped on campus, I felt at home, especially with all of the relationships I had built with the coaches since being recruited. This was my third visit there, and I was pretty familiar with everything that had gone on. So, this official visit was me getting to know everything and all the new places there. Lubbock is a special place and a wonderful community. To all the people who say it isn't, they need to go check it out. What really stood out was the relationship between the coaches and the players; you can tell it is really strong, and they play for each other and go hard. I feel like Coach (Joey) McGuire is the most hands-on coach in college football. I talked to him every day I was up there, and he really has something special going on up there."
