Texas Tech safety Austin Stewart was hit by a bus Wednesday morning on campus. Fortunately his injuries are being described as minor.
According to Tech football spokesman Blayne Beal, Stewart was transported to the University Medical Center where team physicians and trainers are evaluating him.
Chris Payne, a Tech linebacker and Stewart's roommate tweeted out Stewart was riding on a motorized scooter when the bus struck him. Payne also included a photo in his tweet which showed the front window of the bus had been broken, but not shattered, on impact.
Buses on campus are used to transport Tech students to various academic buildings and apartment complexes. Operated by Citibus, most of the busses on campus are full-sized diesels and the photo Payne put out indicated the bus that made contact with Stewart was a full-size bus.
Stewart, a junior college transfer from Pierce Community College in Woodland Hills, Calif., recently completed his first spring practice as a Red Raider and is expected to add much-needed depth at safety in 2012.
As of noon these were all the details available about the incident but RedRaiderSports.com will update you if anything new comes out.
