Ruth recaps new offer from TTU

New Texas Tech offensive line coach Brandon Jones is starting to make more offers to 2018 linemen targets over the past week.

One of the latest offers went out to Coppell offensive tackle Mike Ruth last week.

"Texas Tech offered last Friday," Ruth said. "I had started talking with Coach (Brandon) Jones for a couple of weeks before the offer. He had just told me they were interested and we talked on the phone, got to know one another.

"He wanted me to come visit and see me in person, but I couldn't make it to their junior day this past weekend. At first, he wanted to see me before offering, but then he called on Friday and told me about the offer. Coach Jones told me they really liked my film and that my head coach had great things to say about me. It was a brief conversation, but the plan is to stay in touch and continue getting to know one another."

The 6-foot-7, 305-pound tackle prospect is looking to learn more about the Texas Tech program moving forward.

"I don't know very much about Texas Tech," Ruth said. "They are a Big 12 program, but that is really all I know at this point. I still need to do my research and look into them. Coach Jones and I talked about going up there for a visit. I'm definitely going to their spring game at The Star in Frisco next month, but we are still working on scheduling a date to visit the campus."

After the offer from Texas Tech, Ruth now holds seven (7) total scholarship offers and continues to hear from new programs this off-season.

"I have offers from Bowling Green, Penn, Iowa State, Central Arkansas, Memphis, SMU and now Texas Tech," Ruth said. "I went to a game at Houston last season and attended a recent junior day at TCU, but neither of those programs are showing a lot of interest right now. I'm really just focused on the programs that have offered and want to learn more about each program."

Currently unrated, Ruth earned District 9-6A All-District Second Team Offense honors this past season.
