Running back very interested in the Red Raiders

Texas Tech senior running back DeAndre Washington set a lot of records during his impressive final season in Lubbock. Washington's success put him atop many Tech record books and has allowed him to rack up many post-season accolades.

Washington's big year is also making waves along the recruiting trail as many running backs are starting to pay attention to the Red Raiders' running success, including Wylie (Texas) East 2017 four-star running back Eno Benjamin. Benjamin has always had his eye on the Red Raiders-he attended the Tech junior day this year, was in attendance for the Tech vs TCU game and his best friend Jack Anderson is a Red Raider commit-but the running success on the field has solidified the interest.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
Benjamin himself has named Iowa the current leader at the moment, but there are aspects to Texas Tech that can't be ignored according to the running back. He loves the offense, the coaching staff, and has definitely recognized the hot start to 2017 recruiting.
While Benjamin had a very active junior season, visiting many schools during the year, the number 33 prospect in the state of Texas currently has no other visit plans as of now. His primary focus is improving and perfecting his craft, which is no small task after rushing for 2,635 yards and 41 touchdowns earning him First Team All-State honors during his junior campaign. Benjamin is a ways away from committing at the moment but the Red Raiders are in the running.
IN HIS WORDS:
"I used to hear from Tech everyday when Coach Curtis was there, now I hear from Coach Morris every few days. I really like Tech's versatility to throw and run the ball out of the backfield and that aspect has been real eye catching to me. I watched the running back in their offense rush for almost 1,500 yards this season, and I think I could fit in very well in their offense and put up huge numbers as well."
OUR REACTION:
DeAndre Washington's huge year was certainly big for Texas Tech on the field, but it's also proving to be huge on the recruiting trail. His season proves that elite tailbacks can have Big-12-best years running the ball in the Air Raid offense, and that's certainly caught the attention of Benjamin in addition to other RBs. - Will McKay
