Rivals 250 wide receiver interested in the Red Raiders

Texas Tech, known for their high-powered, Air-Raid offenses, already have one playmaker at the receiver position committed in the 2017 class in Waxahachie receiver Jalen Reagor. Looking to add another one to two receiver prospects (along with Reagor) for the 2017 class, Eric Morris and Emmett Jones are burning up the recruiting trail across the state. One receiver name that has always been high on Texas Tech’s list is Cedar Hill wide receiver Camron Buckley.

Buckley, recently added a fourth-star to his name, was ranked as the No. 36 overall receiver, and became a new addition to the Rivals Top250. The Cedar Hill standout commented on his rise through the ranks.

“It is amazing to get noticed like that. I worked hard all my life just to play football so everything after that—the recognition and everything--is just a reward. All I know is going up, I never want to drop, and I’m excited to keep climbing.”

Even with the new praise and accolades, Buckley has always held the Red Raiders in high regard and continues to give the Red Raiders high praise despite racking up plenty of offers and generating interest from schools such as Texas, Miami, Washington, and Ole Miss.

“I’ve been in Red, Black, and White my whole life,” he said. “I’ve always been a fan of Texas Tech, and I don’t think that will ever go away. I will be coming back down (to Lubbock) this spring or this summer most definitely.”

Buckley is in contact with offensive coordinator Eric Morris and talks with the coach at least once a week. Buckley says they topics range from keeping up with his grades to things the receiver is working on to get better this offseason. The four-star receiver enjoys the relationship he has built with Morris saying that he “really likes the way he (Morris) does what he does. He is a great coach and a good man.”

The Tech coaches—as well as every coaching staff across the country—are very familiar with the talent at Cedar Hill High School as they have extended offers to four offensive prospects, Avery Davis, Charleston Rambo, Camron Buckley, and Jaylon Jackson. Buckley and Jackson seem to be the top prospects for Tech at the moment and are both being heavily pursued by Tech.

Buckley would not be surprised if him and Jackson played together in college, with Texas Tech easily in the running to land the two Rivals Top250 wide receivers.

“Jaylon and I have been playing with each other since we were 10 years old, so there has definitely been conversations about playing with each other on the next level. We both want the same thing, we both want a passing offense, so if we end up going to the same school, I would not be surprised.”

Buckley was a First Team All-District selection after catching 31 passes for 432 yards and 7 touchdowns during his junior season.
