Reed weighing factors, planning trips

Texas Tech has gone out on the recruiting trail with a hot start along the offensive line for the 2017 class, offering a number of highly touted prospects in the trenches and picking up an early commitment from Rivals 100 OL Jack Anderson.
In fact, two of the three commits in the 2017 class are offensive lineman. The Red Raiders are still looking to add to that number with the likes of Houston (Texas) Cypress Creek offensive tackle Grayson Reed. October was a monster month for the Houstonian, as he received offers from Illinois, Boston College and Missouri over a three week span.

WHAT'S NEXT?:
Now that things are heating up for Reed, he's begun to take a step back and look at some of the factors that'll affect him at the next level such as playing time. The six-foot-five, 290 pound lineman already has a handful of schools sticking out, and the Red Raiders are among them. In fact, he's likely making a trip to Lubbock for Texas Tech's matchup against Kansas State next weekend and plans to make it to Oklahoma, TCU and Houston in the next few weeks.
But again, Texas Tech has been one of the schools to really come after him hard on the recruiting trail along with Oklahoma State.
IN HIS WORDS:
"Oklahoma State recruits me pretty hard. It's almost every day they direct message me with something and I get a bunch of letters from them almost every single day. Same thing with Texas Tech also. It's almost a tie between them and Tech" said Reed. " I know they have a lot of offensive line commits, and that's something you have to take into consideration, because I want to go to a school where I'm going to play. I don't want to be that guy that sits there and waits to play till his like senior year or later junior year. I want to play by at least my sophomore if I don't redshirt."
OUR REACTION:
The Red Raiders are off to a great start for the 2017 offensive line class, and Reed is one of only a few targets at the top of the priority list right now for O-line coach Lee Hays. A visit to Lubbock for the Kansas State game next weekend will really mold the direction that things go between Tech and the talented junior go from here on out. - Will McKay
