Pennsylvania lineman puts Tech in top three

Texas Tech offered Philadelphia (Penn.) Imhotep Institute offensive lineman Yasir Durant a little over a month ago, the lineman's seventh offer to date. Durant has since narrowed his list down to three, and the Red Raiders made the cut along with San Diego State and Rutgers.

With signing day looming in under two months and his football season coming to a close, Durant is now focused on taking official visits to his top schools.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
Durant has already set up an official visit to San Diego State, and setting up a visit to Lubbock in order to check out Tech is next on the schedule. Durant also recently received a visit from Tech offensive line coach Lee Hays, who flew up to check out the OL two weeks ago during the contact period.
The lineman and his high school earned the Class 3A state championship in Pennsylvania, and Durant was rated as the number 35 player in the Pennsylvania Postseason Top-35.
All the season accolades are good, but Durant is now focused on the recruiting process and finding a school that fits what he wants both on and off the field. All the schools in his top three are recruiting the 6-foot-6, 335-pounder to play tackle.
IN HIS WORDS:
"Coach Hays and I are working on setting up a visit. He always checks in with me and keeps me updated on the Red Raiders, so we will get a visit set up and covered sometime soon," he said. "Texas Tech is in my top three with San Diego State and Rutgers. The relationship I have with Coach Hays is very good and the style of offense that they run fits my style of play very well. The linemen are quick and they get off the ball and get their hands on people. I really like that."
OUR REACTION:
Durant's offer came a bit out of left field, but it's clear he's built a great relationship with Tech OL coach Lee Hays in recent months. The Red Raiders are on the lookout for one more quality OT in the class, and the Penmsylvania native certainly is that. We'll know more about where things are headed once Durant pencils in a date for a visit to Lubbock. - Will McKay
