Pancotti set to visit Tech

Bellaire Episcopal offensive tackle Giovanni Pancotti committed to

Texas Tech in April over an offer from Houston and has never looked back. While
the offensive line coach at Episcopal has sent his film out to other schools and
received good feedback, the 5.6 three-star maintains he is only interested in
the Red Raiders. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle, who also competes in wrestling,
is excited about what he's seen from the scarlet and black through three games
this year and is eager to become part of it next season.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
Episcopal and Pancotti are off to a 3-1 start this season with wins over two
TAPPS perennial powers -- Plano Prestonwood and Midland Christian -- and a close
loss to Bishop Dunne Catholic, a school widely known for producing its share of
FBS talent. The three-star tackle, who has recently emerged on other school's
radars, is only in personal contact with Texas Tech and has said he will not
take any official visits to other schools. Pancotti plans to attend his first
ever Texas Tech game as the Red Raiders host No. 2 TCU this Saturday.
IN HIS WORDS:
"This is going to be my very first Tech game, but I think it's my third or
fourth visit. I've seen the stadium and the facilities but this will be my first
live game at the Jones with the crowd. Everyone says it's sensational. I'm
really looking forward to go to this game, I'm so excited. I can't wait."
"If we can stop the offense for TCU, our offense will take over. I do predict it
being a high-scoring game. I think Texas Tech having home-field advantage,
knowing what happened last year and making a name for themselves this year, I
feel we'll win."
OUR REACTION:
As Pancotti noted, while he's taken several visits to Lubbock before, he hasn't ever seen what the campus and Jones Stadium look like on a game day. He'll get a great opportunity on Saturday with the Horned Frogs in town, and he'll be able to spend quite a bit of time with the sizable number of Red Raider commits heading out to West Texas as well. -- Will McKay
