Miller looking for stability

Texas Tech is searching for solid prospects to add to its slowly evolving 2017

class. Houston (Texas) Stratford defensive end Sam Miller has held an
offer from the Red Raiders since early May, and he's added four more from SMU,
UCF, Colorado State and Northwestern. Linebackers coach Zac Spavital
has kept in close contact with the 6-foot-3, 280-pound pass rusher since the
offer. As of now, Miller views Texas Tech as a top option, because of the
school's academics and coaching staff. The books have always been his first
priority. His current GPA of 4.6 added with his skills make him very marketable
in the eyes of coaches across the country.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
Miller's main focus is chasing a state championship. Stratford got a win in the
first round last weekend, and they'll face Temple next. Once he's completed that
journey, Miller will take his first visit to Northwestern, where his brother
Alex Miller is currently committed. The expectation is that the
three-star prospect's popularity will swell over the summer months and into his
senior season.
IN HIS WORDS:
"It has to be a good school overall because I'm trying to get a good education.
Football wise, I really a stable coaching staff. I know coach (Kliff) Kingsbury
has a stable one because he's a Texas Tech guy. I also have to be really close
with my position coach, because that's who I'll be spending most of the time
with," said Miller. "They're definitely up there. They are good academically and
good athletically so they're going to be up there on my list of schools that I'm
willing to go to."
OUR REACTION: Texas Tech had success at Houston Stratford in the 2016
class with Jordyn Brooks, and the Red Raiders hope that continues in
2017 with Miller. -- Aaron Dickens
