Littrell lands another Oklahoman

Texas Tech assistant Seth Littrell is a known quantity in the state of Oklahoma, being part of a national championship team will do that for you. Now that he's an assistant coach on the college level he can make quite the impression when he visits a high school anywhere in the state. He did just that with Texas Tech's next addition to their commitment list.

"I think Coach Littrell is a great guy, when he came to my school to talk to me I knew he looked real familiar and I couldn't put my finger on it. Then I realized who it was and knew that he won a national championship. He's just a great guy, I like him a lot," said Colby Whitlock of Noble, Oklahoma.

Whitlock has decided that he'd like to be a part of the Texas Tech football program after accepting his fist scholarship offer earlier this morning.

"Texas Tech offered me and I accepted," he said.

"I've been talking to Texas Tech since late in the school year last year. Coach Littrell is the guy recruiting me and he came down and talked to me. I came down to the camp and it felt like home, that is pretty much it."

Whitlock had 69 tackles last year, and an amazing 31 tackles for a loss to go along with seven sacks and three forced fumbles.

"This was my first offer and like I said right when I walked in it felt like home."

Whitlock camped at several schools but one stood out.

"Kansas, Oklahoma and Tulsa all asked me to their camps so those were the other schools recruiting me. At the other camps you just showed up and went home and at Tech's they showed me around and I talked to everyone."

The first team All-State lineman was recruiting to play defensive tackle at Texas Tech. At 6-foot-3 and 290-pounds he's certainly got the size needed to play the position and a solid wrestling background will help him as well. Whitlock earned third in the 4A state tournament as a sophomore heavyweight although. His junior season was cut short before regional in order to have his knee scoped.

Whitlock is the second lineman from the state of Oklahoma that Littrell has recruited with Enid's Kody Cooke being the other. Cooke will play offensive line.
