The Texas Tech coaching staff hosted several 2023 commitments and targets this past weekend.

Corpus Christi (Texas) Flour Bluff offensive tackle Dylan Shaw was in town for his official visit and is locked in with the Red Raiders.

What you need to know...

...Shaw received his offer from the Red Raiders on November 9th, 2021

...the three-star prospect committed to the Texas Tech coaches on April 23rd, 2022

...the 6-foot-4, 300-pound prospect is also a member of the Flour Bluff varsity Track and Field team, competing in the 100m, 4x1 and 4x4 relays, shotput and discus

Back in Lubbock: "It was great, my Mom and Dad came along and we flew out there instead of driving this time around. I had my own room and they decorated the room with 'the brand' and a ton of snacks. Overall, I would say this visit was all about learning more about Coach (Joey) McGuire's plans for the program and what they expect of us as Texas Tech players. I spent a ton of time around the coaching staff and learned a lot more about the school on this visit.

Official visit vs. other visits: "I would say just having more time to tour everything and learn more about the academic side of things. We toured the player apartments again, we toured the Business building and really the entire campus. I had been on campus before, but did not realize just how big the campus really is because we had only seen a portion of the campus on the last visit. The coaches had people showing us the academic options, the class sizes and a lot of other things about how they support the student athletes on the academic side.

"Everything was scheduled perfect, the coaches had it all planned out and setup a very smooth process for the visit. They even had the current players speak to us, they talked about their experiences at Texas Tech and how excited they are to play for Coach McGuire and the new coaching staff."

Coach Hamby: "Yes sir, I love Coach (Stephen) Hamby, he is such a great coach and I can really tell he knows what he is doing. I watched the offensive linemen practice and talked with some of the offensive linemen. They mainly said Coach Hamby will push you, but only because he wants the best - no laziness. I'm excited to see how he can push me to become a better player."

Host for the weekend: "Yes, it was Jack Tucker, he is a sophomore offensive lineman. I got to hang out with him and some of the other offensive linemen. It was me, Nick (Fattig) and Daniel (Sill). They were telling us about the dorm experience, the Tech coaching staff and just the life of a Texas Tech student athlete."

The Food: "They fed us well, we went to have barbeque the first day and ate at Coach McGuire's house. The next day, the coaches setup a 'Taste of Lubbock' event inside the indoor facility and they brought in food from various restaurants to give us a bit of everything from around the city."

Coach McGuire's house: "We all went there, as a group of recruits, then once we finished all of our parents went to his house and spent time with him. It was cool to be at his house and spend time with the entire coaching staff. I got to know the coaches a lot more and I feel like we are a lot closer off the field now."

Other commitments: "Yes, I would say there were about 15 of us on the visit this weekend. I got to spend more time around the other commitments. I talked with Daniel (Sill) quite a bit and we hung out with some of the current players too. I spent time with Jake (Strong) and got to know him pretty well. Also, he wasn't there this past weekend, but I have talked with Kaden (Carr) a lot since my commitment."

Recruiting others?: "Yes, we were all recruiting Nick (Fattig) and we just took turns when it was the right time. I do think he will commit to Texas Tech, just not sure when. I do believe he really likes Tech after the visit."

Commitment: "I'm ready to be a Red Raider, I'm ready to finish my senior year and head to Lubbock to put in the work. At first, other coaches would ask if they still had a chance, but I said no and that I'm committed to Texas Tech. The coaching staff shows me a lot of love, they see potential in me and that has made things really slow down from a recrutment standpoint.

Fit: "Coach Hamby and I have talked about me playing offensive tackle and offensive guard. He sees me playing multiple positions on the offensive line."

Currently rated a 5.7 three-star prospect, Shaw earned District 15-5A-I first-team selection at offensive tackle this past season.
