Florida PG recaps visit

Texas Tech hosted a handful of football recruits this past Saturday as the Red Raiders thumped the Iowa State Cyclones 66-31 in Lubbock. Red Raider basketball coach Tubby Smith also used the football homecoming game day atmosphere to his advantage to host Auburndale (Fla.) point guard Keon Clergeot on an official visit.

WHAT'S NEXT?:
Though a little small at 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, the three-star guard caught the eye of a few programs -- including Texas Tech -- by averaging 26.8 points, 7.9 assists and 6.5 rebounds per game last season. Clergeot is intrigued by Coach Smith's experience and the fact that he's won a national championship in his career. He currently lists the Red Raiders in his top three with Stephen F. Austin and Chattanooga and plans to make a decision before the upcoming early signing period.
IN HIS WORDS:
"My visit was great, I really liked the visit, they showed me around and showed me a lot of love. They offered me way back. They're losing two guards so they really don't have any scoring guards so I would be one of their main scoring guards. They want me to come right in and play. It looked like it could possibly be the spot, but I'm still looking around."
OUR REACTION:
Toddrick Gotcher and Devaugntah Williams are set to exhaust their eligibility
after the 2015-16 season, so it makes sense that the Red Raiders are scouring
the landscape for a guard that can add some offensive punch to the program. The
early signing period opens in less than a month, so we'll start seeing dominos
fall before we know it. -- Aaron Dickens
