Fields is solid with Tech

Kliff Kingsbury's staff has recruited what could be one of the the strongest defensive classes in recent memory. Taylor cornerback Damarcus Fields

is one of thirteen defensive commits, whose shown complete allegiance to the Red
Raiders since pledging in early June. Big 12 counterpart TCU has continued talks
with Fields, despite his commitment to Texas Tech. But he has made it clear that
his mind is completely set on playing for the Red Raiders.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
Fields' team is looking to navigate through district play after dropping two
straight games. The three star commit has been taking full advantage of the
snaps he's getting at safety. He believes that playing the position has made him
an even better tackler in run support.
The 6-foot, 180-pound defender plans to focus on playing out his high school
career before he schedules his official visit to Texas Tech. However, Fields
does want to attend two games before Texas Tech completes conference play this
November.
IN HIS WORDS:
"I'm telling you, I'm 'Guns Up.' Nothing's going to change, it's going to stay
that way. I'm not taking any visits anywhere else" said Fields. "I love watching
the boys play. Everybody seems like they're coming together as one, and I can't
wait to get up there to see it."
OUR REACTION:
Fields is super solid with the Red Raiders, and it's all about getting him on a
visit at this point. It looks like that may happen for the Iowa State or
Oklahoma State games in October, and the cornerback will focus on his senior
season between now and then. -- Will McKay
