The Texas Tech coaches will hold their second satellite camp of the summer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this Sunday at Duncanville High School. Throughout the past few years, the program's South Dallas satellite camps have been some of the stronger camps in terms of the talent.

With multiple commitments and limited room on the offensive side of the ball in the 2017 class, the focus will be on defensive prospects this weekend.

Arlington (Texas) Timberview weakside defensive end David Anenih is a prospect who added several new offers and interest from programs across the country this spring, including the Red Raiders.

"I actually met coach (Eric) Morris right before spring ball started," Anenih said. "He stopped by the school around April, then he introduced me to their defensive line coach, coach (Kevin) Patrick. They told me about their satellite camp this Sunday and I'm planning to attend.

"We haven't talked very much, but the coaches expressed interest and want me to come work out at the camp. I don't know very much about Texas Tech, but I do have some family that live around Lubbock. My uncle and aunt live out there and I have visited West Texas before."

At 6-foot-3, 223-pounds, Anenih is also a standout on the Timberview track and field team.

"Coach say that I'm pretty athletic because I also run track," Anenih said. "I run the 100m, 200m, and I'm the anchor on our 4x1 relay team. My fastest time in the 100m this season was a 10.8. Coach Patrick, and other coaches recruiting me, sees me as a rush end that can cover. Some programs have a name for the position, like a bandit or something, but it's a rush end and outside linebacker position that tries getting to the quarterback off the edge."

Anenih currently holds 11 total offers and Texas Tech is not the only Power Five program showing him interest lately.

"Recruiting started in April, a lot of coaches were coming through and watching practice," Anenih said. "I had one day where I had three new offers all come in the same day. It was excited, but I was still just thinking of practice afterwards.

"Coaches from Texas Tech, Baylor, Michigan and Texas A&M are showing interest lately. In terms of the schools that have offered, I would say that Oklahoma State, Southern Mississippi, Kansas State and Houston are the programs recruiting me the most. The location doesn't matter to me as long as I get to a place where I can get the best opportunity."

Anenih is Nigerian and spent the past month plus on vacation in Nigeria, meaning the standout defender did not participate in any of the area satellite camps or take any on-campus visits so far this summer.

He is working to setup a handful of unofficial visits for later this month and before the season begins.

"I plan on taking a few visits starting next week," Anenih said. "I have been out of the country in Nigeria visiting family and haven't been able to camp with any programs or visit any programs. I want to Oklahoma State, Southern Mississippi, Kansas State, and Houston. I don't have anything setup, but will most likely setup a few visits for the end of this month.

"Even if I don't end up taking visits this summer, I'm going to use my official visits this fall and plan on making my commitment during the season after I take a few of the official visits. I just want to find a program that can help me on the field and academically."

Currently rated a 5.5 three-star prospect, Anenih finished with 43 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and three sacks this past season.
