Cox-Wesley is ready to be a Red Raider

Texas Tech put a premium on size at wide receiver this recruiting class with three of their four wide receivers for 2016 listed at 6-foot-4 or taller. One of the first receivers to commit to the Red Raiders back in May was Cibolo Steele 6-foot-4 outside receiver Antoine Cox-Wesley. Wesley committed to Texas Tech with his teammate Bryson Denley and the two commits have never wavered in their pledge despite the recent coaching changes. Offensive coordinator Eric Morris is his primary recruiter and the two have developed a very strong relationship over the course of his recruitment.

Wesley finished his senior season at Steele catching 49 passes for 692 yards and 10 touchdowns during his team's 14-1 season.
WHAT'S NEXT?:
Cox-Wesley will now switch his focus to preparing for track season where he will participate in the long jump, triple jump and high jump. The three-star receiver qualified for state in the long and triple jump last year. The 6-foot-4, 185-pound receiver will also be spending a lot of time out on the field this off-season working to meet the necessary speed and weight goals in hopes to increase his chances of seeing the field early next year where he is slotted to play the
X-receiver position as of now. Cox-Wesley and the rest of the 2016 offensive recruits will be back in Lubbock on their official visit on
Jan. 22.
IN HIS WORDS:
"We have been talking a lot about how he is ready to get me down there to start dogging on those corners and make some big plays for them," he said. "Most likely if I do what they ask me -- get a step faster and gain 10 pounds
-- I'll be their big man and will have a good chance of seeing the field next year. Since my sophomore year, you throw the ball up, and I will go get it no questions asked, and I am excited to bring that aspect to the offense."
OUR REACTION:
Texas Tech's wide receiver corps lacked size in 2015 due to Dylan Cantrell's
injury, and the program's emphasis on adding height to its group of pass
catchers is obvious when looking at its recruiting efforts. Cox-Wesley is a big
part of that movement, and should have an opportunity to play as a freshman next
season. -- Aaron Dickens
