The coaches are on the road recruiting, stopping by various high school programs to check in with commits and targets. Over the past week, the coaches even stopped by to see a few of the priority targets for the 2017 class.

Texas Tech offensive line coach Lee Hays was in the Houston area last week and visited Cypress Creek (Texas) Rivals250 junior offensive tackle Grayson Reed.

"There have been a lot of schools coming through over the past week, but I remember Texas Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M for sure," Reed said. "Coach Hays from Tech and I have a great relationship. It was good to see him again. He just wanted to remind me that I'm one of their top 2017 targets on the offensive line.

"I visited Texas Tech for their game against Kansas State and had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Coach Hays after the game. He spent nearly two hours just talking with me about football, getting to know me, and just hanging out. No other coach has done that for me before and I really enjoy talking with him."

Hays is not the only person recruiting Reed for Texas Tech either, another 2017 prospect is also selling him on the opportunity with the Red Raiders.

"Jack Anderson is another guy that talks with me about Texas Tech," Reed said. "We got to know one another through the recruiting process and he thinks we could build a great offensive line at Tech. He keeps it light though and actually jokes around with me.

"I went to the U.S. Army All-American Game junior combine last weekend and someone tweeted a picture of me wearing a Texas pullover. Jack messaged me and told me to get a double-T on that jacket."

Reed, a Rivals250 prospect, already holds over 15 FBS offers and recently added new offers from Baylor and Tennessee this week.

"I would like to visit Baylor, especially now that they have offered," Reed said. "I have invites to several junior days and they all seem to be scheduled on the same day, or the day after. I probably won't be able to make most of them, but I have looked at the Oklahoma junior day and the Texas A&M junior day so far. Possibly Oklahoma State, but their junior day is right before or right after the Oklahoma junior day.

"I'm sure that I will get around to each school eventually. I plan to attend several camps here in the area as well."

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound tackle is the cousin of former Texas Longhorns defensive end Cedric Reed.

"Cedric (Reed) is my cousin and a lot people assumed that I would commit after Texas offered," Reed said. "I do like Texas, but want to experience the recruiting process for myself and have already built some good relationships with some other coaching staffs.

"There are a lot of schools that I like. I'm interested in Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and several other schools like Arizona State and Houston. I want to take my visits and see what each program is like, see what fits me."

Rated a four-star prospect, Reed is the No. 25 offensive tackle, the No. 234 prospect in the latest Rivals 250 national rankings, and the No. 31 prospect on the Rivals.com Texas Postseason Top 100 for the 2017 class.
