Cibolo Steele defensive standout hearing from Jamison, offer on the way?

With multiple spots open along the front seven for the 2018 class, a wide range of prospects are in contact with the coaches on a regular basis. One prospect who has multiple connections with both coaches and players is Cibolo (TX) Steele linebacker/defensive end Juan Henry.

Henry had been hearing from former defensive line coach Kevin Patrick and has started hearing from the new DL coach Terrance Jamison over the past few weeks. The two parties got in touch via phone call this past weekend.

“I called coach Jamison on Saturday,” Henry said.

“It went real good. We were just starting up our relationship and stuff. He said he was going to come down and see me in the spring. He said that if everything goes well with my grades and meeting me and meeting my coaches, then he will offer.”

“He was also telling me that he isn’t too interested in 40 times and that he just wants to see my get off. He is really focused on my 10-yard split. He was very impressed with my film.”

Texas Tech has built up quite the Cibolo pipeline recently as multiple prospects have signed with Tech from the school over the past few seasons. That connection to the players has made Tech an attractive school to Henry, and he is excited to have Jamison come down and show him what he can do.

“I’m excited for him to come down and potentially receive an offer. I mean, that’s a Big 12 offer. I have friends that play at Tech like Antoine (Cox-Wesley), Xavier Martin, and Justin Stockton.”

“I’m just excited to show him my ability to play both outside linebacker and defensive end. I play that hybrid position for Cibolo but most schools view me as an outside linebacker. Coach Jamison sees me in that role as well, but I could have my hand in the dirt a lot.”

Outside of the connection with the players, Henry’s interest in Tech stems from where he sees the program could be heading in the future and the immediate positive impact Jamison has already had on him.

“They are a real good program. Yeah, they have had their ups and downs, but every team has that. I feel like they are on the come back and could be on the verge of something great. They could be competing for championships later on down the road.”

“I like coach Jamison, he is a really good coach. He keeps it real with you and I like that. I want that from the coaches, I want honesty and he provides that. When I talked with him on Saturday, he also talked with my dad and that was the first coach to want to talk with me and then my dad. In my whole recruitment, that hasn’t happened yet. My dad really liked that and that stood out to him a lot.”

Be in Frisco for the spring game and could potentially be planning another visit to Lubbock with other Cibolo Steele 2018 prospect JayVeon Cardwell.

Henry finished his junior season with 66 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, two sacks, and 19 QB hurries. Earning 27-6A first team defensive honors this past season.
