With Texas Tech's coaching staff putting the finishing touches on the 2020 class, they've also kept an eye on the future with some new 2021 and beyond offers.

One of those offers came to Pleasant Grove (Utah) tight end Isaac Vaha. At 6-foot-7, 230 pounds, Vaha is a versatile athlete capable of playing both tight end and on the defensive line, but Tech's offer is for tight end.

What you need to know...

... Vaha announced his offer from Tech on October 31st

... Tech became Vaha's first Big 12 offer and eighth overall offer, joining Arizona State, BYU, Oregon State, Utah, Utah State, Virginia and Washington State.

... Vaha is the third tight end in the 2021 class to pick up an offer from Tech, joining Dametrious Crownover and Brock Bowers.

Coaches contact: "I've been talking to coach Luke Wells and coach Preston Pehrson so far. The first text I got from coach Pehrson was about three weeks ago and then he gave me coach Wells' contact and we've been talking since then. They're looking at me for the tight end position, I'm not sure what I want to play in college yet because I love playing both sides of the ball but that's a decision I'm going to have to make next year."

Multi-sport athlete: Vaha is also a standout on the basketball court, however he says that his future is football.

"I've been playing basketball since I can remember but for college I'll definitely be more successful with football."

Connections to Texas Tech: With the majority of the Red Raider football staff coming over from Utah State, there is a connection to Utah high schools and Vaha has heard good things about Matt Wells and his staff.

"My head coach for my football team said he has a good relationship with coach Wells. Me and my dad did some research about Texas Tech and it was all good, the education and the campus and everything."

Staying home for college: While staying in-state is a big draw for most recruits, Vaha says he's looking at all of his options.

"I'm definitely considering both in-state and out of state offers, I'm just trying to find the best fit for me."

Priorities for choosing a school: "I just really want to get a good education so I can have a good career after football."

Visits: Isaac has so far taken an unofficial visit to Utah State and has an upcoming unofficial planned to go check out Arizona State. As far as visiting Lubbock, Isaac doesn't have any set plans to do so yet but will have to talk with his parents to see what schools they can go see in the near future.

Hearing the most from: Up to eight total offers, Vaha says he is hearing a lot from all of his offers on a day-to-day basis. A few schools who have shown heavy interest but haven't offered yet include Oregon, UCLA, Nevada and Washington among others.

Junior season: "We just lost in the second round last week but it was really fun because it was my first year back playing football in about five years."

Commitment timeline: Still a junior, Vaha says that in an ideal world he would be committed sometime before the end of his senior season.
